Book Review ~ "Troll Hunters" by Michael Dahl

Troll HuntersTroll Hunters by Michael Dahl
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Source: Received to Review
Genre: Middle Grade Action/Adventure

Book Description: Far above the small town of Zion Falls, the stars fall from the sky. Deep below the sleepy city, an ancient evil awakens. Caught in the middle are four friends who find powers beyond their wildest dreams -- and monsters worse than their darkest nightmares.

My thoughts: Action, adventure, fighting trolls, and a little bit of the mythology behind the stars are what you will find in Troll Hunters.

Four children are drawn together when trolls invade the surface of the earth through a deep well. All were interested in the meteor shower, but instead found themselves running from trolls. Using their intellect and help from an unexpected man named Dr. Hoo, they survive and are able to fight another battle.

This book takes a look at the solar system and the constellations. The stories behind the the naming of the constellations are briefly discussed as the children find that they are part of the legend. They need to fight the trolls and keep the Earth safe from troll dominion.

This book is very fast paced and I think that kids will like the story and the action. For me, I could have used a little more detail, but it's perfect for younger readers.
