Fall of Eden ~ Blog Tour ~ author Michele Poague with a US/giveaway

Fall of Eden by Michele Poague
Genre: Fantasy
Source: Received electronic copy for review

Book Description: Myths are but shadows of a greater truth.

What is the Healing Crystal and who is the rightful heir? Is it a religious object or a powerful weapon? Does it belong to a fallen line of kings or to the colonists of Survin? Should its fate be left in the hands of the young and inexperienced Kairma or to Narvin, the last descendant of a line of kings?

Kairma holds the Crystal and believes she will become the next leader of Survin, while her younger sister Kinter, believes she, not Kairma, is the rightful heir. Narvin believes the Healing Crystal is the Star of Genesis, a powerful relic his ancestors have been seeking for centuries.

Determined to possess the object that will return him to his glory, Narvin is unwavering in his quest to possess it, and Kairma is caught in a fierce race across barren deserts and rugged mountains to a shattering finish where the winner must decide the fate of the world.

My thoughts: I was surprised that as a second book in the series, I was able to pick it up and understand what was happening in the story.  I could tell that I was missing something, but it wasn't hard for me to follow along.  Reading the first book is definitely on my to do list.  Michele did send me a copy, I have been pressed for time and wasn't able to get to it first.

This book is well written, interesting, and entertaining.  The book begins with Kairma getting ready for a ceremony where she will receive her mate.  It soon becomes an adventure when she is forced to flee her home with the Healing Crystal.  It is her birthright to rule as the holder of the crystal.

It appears that while on a trip to another town, members of the Survin party told of the Healing Crystal and it's significance to their culture and practices.  This knowledge led to Narvin attacking the Survin people to claim it as his own.

I look forward to beginning the adventure with the first book and then continuing to the third.  :)

What Kind of Reader are You?
by Michele Poague, Author, The Healing Crystal Trilogy

When offered the opportunity to be a guest blogger for Lisa I visited her site to get a feel for the kind of article that would be of interest to her readers. As I scrolled through all of the wonderful posts, I found myself thinking about the name of her blog: Bookworm Lisa. Did use of the word 'bookworm' mean that Lisa's an avid reader; possibly even a voracious one?  When, where, what and how we read determines what kind of a reader we are. Some of us read only certain genres or stick to non-fiction only. Some of us like short stories while others lust for an epic novel. Some of us read only at night while others use every spare moment to breeze through one more article, chapter or post. Many of us have favorite authors. I know I do.

So what kind of reader are you? Take this fun little “Yes or No” quiz I came up with to find out. Answer 'yes' to all that apply. Give yourself one point for each 'yes' answer.

1. The Bedtime Reader
            a. I read at night to clear my thoughts.
            b. I read at night because I have time for reading.
            c. I read until morning, or until the book falls out of my hands.

2. The Breakfast Reader
            a. I’m still reading the book that fell out of my hands last night when I dozed off.
            b. I read the newspaper or daily magazines.
            c. I read the back of the cereal box or the nutrition information on the juice label.

3. The Bathroom Reader
            a. I’m still reading the same book I was reading at breakfast.
            b. I read the magazine left in a rack by the toilet.
            c. I read in the bathtub to escape.

4. The Road Reader
            a. I never leave home without 2-3 books.
            b. I read maps, travel books, and road advertisements.
            c. On a plane, I read the emergency exit card because someone took the magazine.

5. The Rainy Day Reader
            a. I read until the book is done come rain or shine.
            b. Rainy weather makes me feel like curling up with a good book.
            c. I read because I don’t want to play tennis in the rain.

6. The Internet Reader
            a. I read because some of the cool pictures have words.
            b. I read news and postings from my friends.
            c. I read anything and everything until my laptop falls out of my hands.

7. The Non-Fiction Reader
            a. I read news or trade magazines.
            b. I read “How To” manuals.
            c. I read encyclopedias and dictionaries.

8. The Incidental Reader
            a. I read in the waiting room at the dentist or doctor’s office.
            b. I read school or work assignments.
            c. I read the instruction manual when I can’t guess how something goes together.
