Review ~ "The Goddess Legacy"

The Goddess Legacy by Aimee Carter
(Goddess Test 2.5)

Rating : 4 of 5
Source: Netgalley
Genre: YA mythology

Book Description: For millennia we've caught only glimpses of the lives and loves of the gods and goddesses on Olympus. Now Aime e Carter pulls back the curtain on how they became the powerful, petty, loving and dangerous immortals that Kate Winters knows.

Calliope/Hera represented constancy and yet had a husband who never matched her faithfulness....

Ava/Aphrodite was the goddess of love and yet commitment was a totally different deal....

Persephone was urged to marry one man, yet longed for another....

James/Hermes loved to make trouble for others-but never knew true loss before....

Henry/Hades's solitary existence had grown too wearisome to continue. But meeting Kate Winters gave him a new hope....

Five original novellas of love, loss and longing and the will to survive throughout the ages.

Colleen's Thoughts: I have loved this series from page one, book one.  Although this book did not resolve the cliff hanger at the end of the last one, it gave a very insightful glimpse into the backgrounds and feelings of five of the main characters in the series.  Hera, Aphrodite, Persephone, Hermes, and Hades' histories are revealed, each in his/her own little novella.  They were well written, entertaining (although I think Aphrodite and Persephone are especially immature, selfish, and bratty!), and gave a helpful emotional portrait of each character.  I now understand why many of the characters acted and responded the way they did in the previous books.  I am anxious for the next one!
There are some innuendos and adult situations, especially involving Aphrodite (of course).  I would only recommend this series to more mature teenagers.
