Eyrie by Emma Michaels
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Source: Received to Review
Genre: YA Paranormal/Romance
Book Description: Somewhere between falling and flying…you will find the truth.
The truth is being unveiled and Iris’ past is unlike anything she ever could have guessed. For Stryx, finding your missing half doesn’t always mean finding your mate. Iris has been missing a part of herself for so long that no one is sure she will be able to put the pieces back together and her ever reliable dreams may be forcing her astray. Coping with the death of someone she loved, she is forced to face the truth and break free from the lies that have caged her.
My thoughts: Iris continues grow and develop as a Stryx. She is a member of a society where the people have a soul that is half human and half bird. There are representatives of the different members of the bird species. Iris was thought to be an owlet, but now she finds that she is something more, she is special and was born to lead.
This book takes a closer look at the Stryx society. The government and social structure is defined. As Iris learns more, she is not pleased with all that she finds out.
I enjoyed the building relationship that Iris has with Falcon. The romance is sweet and loving. I also liked how Iris tries to break traditions and befriend others who are not considered in the same social class that she is. She is able to see the lies behind what is traditional.
The problem that I had in reading the book is that it has been awhile since I read the first book, Owlet. I didn't remember many of the details. I would highly recommend that you pick up the first book before reading this one.
