Guardians by Heather Frost
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Source: NetGalley
Genre: YA Angels/Demons/Romance
Book Description: Kate Bennett has escaped captivity, but she has not escaped the hunt. The Demon Lord has one million dollars on Kate’s head, and every bounty hunter around is just waiting for the chance to break through her guardian force. Kate’s only shot at staying alive and protecting her loved ones is to lead the seers on a mission to the past and kill the Demon Lord before he comes to power.
But Patrick, Kate’s immortal guardian and the love of her life, knows what happens when she travels back in time: he has seen her die in his arms. With Patrick keeping a protective watch over her, Kate knows she can never lead her mission, but she cannot wait around to be captured by demons again, either.
This final installment of the Seers trilogy brings Kate Bennett’s tale to a surprising and exciting conclusion filled with love and heartache, danger and triumph, loss and redemption.
My thoughts: This is the third book in the Seers trilogy. It picks up the story right where Demons left off.
Kate and Patrick are seer and guardian. They are fighting the demons, who want to destroy the guardians. Their plan is to have the ability to have control without the guardians keeping them in check. Kate, as a seer can see aura's. She can tell when someone is a demon, because their aura is black. Patrick is her guardian. He protects her and kills the demons.
The Demon Lord wants Kate because of her special abilities. She can travel back in time when she focuses on the memory of another. With her as as tool, he can change history. He puts a bounty on her head making her a target for mercenary demons.
The love between Patrick and Kate is sweet and deep. They have a nice love story going on with all the conflict around them. It's nice to have two people who really love and respect each other as the main characters.
The book is a little slow at the beginning. Heather Frost is laying the foundation for the ending of the book. She sets the scenes so that the book flows well from beginning to ending. While I was able to figure out possible scenarios for the ending, she was able to throw in a few surprises for me.
This is a wonderful conclusion to a well written series of books. It is appropriate for teens. There content is clean. The only caution would be for younger teens due to some violence and kissing.
