Review of "Crave" by Melissa Darnell

Crave (The Clann #1)Crave by Melissa Darnell

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Source: Netgalley
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Recommended to readers over 13 years old

Description from Goodreads:  Savannah Colbert has never known why she's so hated by the kids of the Clann. Nor can she deny her instinct to get close to Clann golden boy Tristan Coleman. Especially when she recovers from a strange illness and the attraction becomes nearly irresistible. It's as if he's a magnet, pulling her gaze, her thoughts, even her dreams. Her family has warned her to have nothing to do with him, or any members of the Clann. But when Tristan is suddenly everywhere she goes, Savannah fears she's destined to fail.
For years, Tristan has been forbidden to even speak to Savannah Colbert. Then Savannah disappears from school for a week and comes back…different, and suddenly he can't stay away. Boys seem intoxicated just from looking at her. His own family becomes stricter than ever. And Tristan has to fight his own urge to protect her, to be near her no matter the consequences….

My thoughts: Savannah is growing up in a society that is ran by the Clann. Everyone adheres to what the Clann wants, and the clan has hurt her.

The Clann is an elusive group that you become a member of by birth. They control things in Government, Society, School, etc. They Clann has decided that she is not good enough to have their children befriend. She has become a target for ridicule and scorn.

But there is Tristan, he is the son of the leader of the Clann. He is kind to her and protective of her. He tries to defer some ridicule and he always remembers that she was his best friend when they were in fourth grade.

This book is about the clash between vampire and witch worlds. Savannah is the bridge between the two. She is half vampire and half witch. She doesn't fit in to either group and is watched with interest and loathing.

Somehow Tristan and Savannah need to find a way to have their two worlds meet so that they can be together. Until then, they keep their love a secret.

I enjoyed the story. It is told from both Tristan and Savannah's point of view. The story moved at a nice pace and was fun to read.  There isn't content that I find objectionable.  There are kissing scenes and mild swearing.
