Genre: Historical Fiction Romance

Book Description: Having grown up in a lighthouse, loneliness is all Isabelle Thornton has ever known--and all, she assumes, she ever will know. But when her lightkeeper father rescues a young man from the lake, her sheltered world is turned upside down.

Bestselling author Jody Hedlund's Out of the Storm is her first ever novella and introduces readers to Beacons of Hope, a new series set in the 1800s amid the romance, history, and danger surrounding the Great Lakes lighthouses of Michigan.

My thoughts; This is a short and sweet novella about a young woman who lives at a remote light house with her father.

Unexpected love comes her way when a storm breaks up a passenger vessel on the Great Lakes. Henry was pulled from the lake, freezing and near death. Isabelle becomes his caretaker and finds more than compassion as she helps his regain his health.

This novella lays a great foundation for Jody Hedlund's upcoming book[book:Love Unexpected|20665078, giving us an introduction to the lighthouse and little of the history of Presque Isle.

I found the characters to be fun to read about. Henry was a unique young man who excelled at being a rich man of leisure. His interactions with Isabelle showed a softening of his character and a quick change of heart. It was wonderful to see how he learned what things matter most in life.

This is a quick romance. Perfect for the times when you have a short period of time to read.
