Genre: Contemporary Love Story

Book Description:  Lauren Wilson is well on her way to her happily-ever-after. She has a career she loves, a husband she adores and a baby on the way, but a devastating diagnosis changes everything. The life she's built suddenly crumbles around her when her husband insists she choose—the baby or him. Returning to her small hometown to rebuild her shattered life, Lauren crosses paths with Ethan Campbell, the man who stole her teenage heart. The old attraction is still there, but Lauren won't admit it to anyone—least of all herself. Her only priority is providing a life for her child, and she can't afford to get it wrong. Ethan is confusing everything, including stirring up feelings she’s not prepared to face. Will she spend her life raising her baby alone or is the family she's always wanted finally within her reach?

My thoughts: Love is never perfect. This book takes on a deeper meaning of love that is not perfect. It deals with issues that no one wants to happen to them. But they are faced with courage and love.

Lauren is excited that after two years of trying to have a baby, she is finally pregnant. Unfortunately, her baby is not perfect. Dealing with the pain of awaiting a special needs child, her husband leaves her. He does so because he is unwilling to parent a special needs child. She is forced to make a decision, have the baby and be a single parent, or termination of the pregnancy and remain married to a selfish person. Hmmm... I think it was a no brainer. She did the right thing. (That is completely me stating a personal opinion.)

She moves back to her hometown of Durango, Colorado to live with her widowed mother. She has support. She has love. She can face the trial.

There is also the addition of her teenage crush. He is in town after the death of his mother. He needs her help and she is very happy to comply.

I have given a short idea of the story. The main emphasis for me is the story of a mother who loves her imperfect child completely. It explores the real meaning of love. Love isn't something you give only when life is going your way. The underlying message is a good one.

The subject matter behind the story may be hard, but this is a great book to pick up when you want a good story and a book that makes you think.

The next morning, Lauren awoke to the sound of the garage door closing. It was only six fifteen

but Paul had already left for work. He didn’t even say goodbye. Did he really have to work so

much? Was it her imagination or did he seem to be working more lately?

She pulled the covers up to her chin while thoughts circled her mind. Certainly, Paul wasn’t

deliberately avoiding her, but if she had to hang onto this secret much longer, she’d explode.

This was way too exciting to hold in. For a moment, she considered calling her mom and telling

her, but decided Paul deserved to know before anyone else. Even her mom.

Lauren rose from bed and gazed out the window. Morning was just beginning to break, and the

neighborhood was bathed in a serene, purple haze. She loved the early morning when so many

possibilities lay ahead. And today those possibilities were almost intoxicating. Once Paul knew

she was pregnant, he’d be so ecstatic. They’d spend more time together, and Lauren would

finally have her perfect life—just as she had imagined it.

Pulling on her robe, Lauren headed toward the kitchen. After school she’d drive over to Paul’s

office and kidnap him. She’d take him to a nearby park and after walking around, hand-in-hand,

she’d present him with the baby bottle. The vision of his excitement was so real it almost felt as

if his arms were already around her.

Today would be a good day.

A day that would change everything.
