Evie's Knight by Kimberly Krey (GuestPost/Giveaway)

Evie's KnightMy rating: 4 of 5 stars

Genre: Paranomal Romance

Book description: When Evie falls in love with Calvin Knight, their young, virtuous romance conjures a truly wicked spell.

Evie always thought her eighteenth year would be magical, but so far it's not what she hoped for. Her best friend has gone wild, her love life is void, and she misses her mom more than ever. But life for Evie is about to change. Calvin Knight, the object of her fascination, is about to fall madly in love with her. Just one problem: Their love conjures a murderous woman from beyond the grave who wants Evie dead. The same demon who has haunted the Knight men for over four generations. Soon Calvin is forced to make a choice: Set Evie free and hope to evade the wrath of The Raven- haired Ghost, or use his newly gifted strengths to fight against her. If he chooses to fight and wins, Calvin will free the Knight men of this demonic witch. If he loses, Evie will become her next victim.

My thoughts: Jocelyn has coveted the Knight men. She sacrificed herself to curse them and take away the women that they love. She will do what it takes to take her revenge on the man who spurned her.

Evie and Calvin have an art class together and begin to connect. Evie learns about the family curse from a painting that Calvin creates of the woman who set the evil upon his family. At first he doesn't believe in the curse, but the continuous nightmares lead him to realize that it is more than a family legend.

Calvin will do whatever it takes to save Evie. The curse has already been set the moment he fell in love with her, now he and his brother need to see it through to save her and their future together.

This book caught my imagination from the beginning. I loved the way that Evie and Calvin were portrayed. They are a very cute couple who have a bright future ahead of them. I loved that Calvin respects Evie's boundaries. He wants for her to remain virtuous.

This is a clean romance. The kissing does get a little intense, but that is as far as the intimacy goes.

Clean Romance, Part Three of Three

I’m a big fan of romance in fiction, but I really prefer clean romance to anything else. Especially when it involves the youth. I think a lot can be lost in downplaying tender words, soft touches, and timid –or not so timid – first kisses. Not to mention the second and third kiss. That’s why I love writing, as I say, romance that’s clean without losing the steam. Here, in Clean Romance, part three, we hear what reviewers thought of the clean romance in Evie’s Knight.

1. “Evie's Knight is a fun, quick read that caught the attention of all the females in this house!
Between the passionate kissing and the romantic whispered Spanish, we fought over who's turn it was to read the book. I appreciate the fact that it has just enough "affection" to satisfy the curiosity of the younger generation but not enough that would prompt the older generation to pull it from the family bookshelf. (Thank you Kimberly for providing this rare option in a world of lurid romance novels.)”
(Quote from review by Wendi Darling on Evie’s Knight Amazon page.)

2. “I liked how Kimberly shows morality is a choice; it is not that a person is cold or frigid, they feel the same things...they simply make a stand and a choice to wait.” (Quote from review by Tanna McTee on Evie’s Knight Amazon page.)

3. “This book has so many sensual kisses! As a romance reader I look forward to novels like these! Evie is so easy to relate to in the sense she's a real woman, insecurities and all. There are moments in this book that take me back to the feeling of my first kiss, love, break-up, relationship ect... just because the author has done such a fantastic job of portraying how love really feels.” (Quote from review by Booklover on Evie’s Knight Amazon page.)

4. “The relationship that develops between her and Calvin feels very natural and is hot without being sleazy.” (Quote from review by Coacheswife on Evie’s Knight Amazon page.)

5. “This is a YA book, so the book is clean, but anybody who knows real love, knows that love is a lot more than just sex. The deep concern the two main characters have for each other is wonderful, and you know the love that develops between the two is something real, not love people use easily to fulfill their desires. The clean pure love makes this story so good!” (Quote taken from review by K Watt on Amazon’s page for Evie’s Knight.)

6. Our next review is prefaced with a *may contain spoiler* alert, so thought I’d give you a head’s up.  “On a deeper level, I feel that the author touched on some pretty intense real live issues. One of which that spoke to me was the fact that Evie chose not to give herself to anyone. She had a very high moral standard. One of the factors was that she was worried that Calvin would not stay with her because of this. This is a real fear for those who choose to not give themselves to anyone until they are married. I loved that Calvin did stay with her despite this fact, and he even loved her more because of it. :)”  (Quote taken from review by Shari Ellen on Amazon’s page for Evie’s Knight.)
