Book Description: Chloe Masters’s world changed in a heartbeat - and all she did was touch a doorknob.
When she was young Chloe’s mother vanished. Wracked by feelings of abandonment and anger she lost herself traveling with her father's magic act, where illusions were part of her everyday life. Yet everything changes when they are pursued by a mysterious man in black out to kill her father. Touching a doorknob activates abilities she never knew she had and she finds herself thrust into a world of ancient societies and secrets.
When her father disappears it is a race against time to find answers before she loses what is left of her family. Now Chloe must choose who to trust, the man who will do anything for her or the one she can’t stop thinking about.
Book one of the Doorknob Society series.
My thougts: Chloe Masters is living an unusual life. Her father is a magician and she travels around the world with him. She discovers that their live together is full of secrets. Secrets that rip family and those she loves away from her.
She is part of an ancient society. She must choose who to trust while trying to uncover her family secrets. The secrets are embedded deep and layered. With friends she has quite a bit to unravel. Her quest can either sever her society or heal rifts.
This is an interesting story. I wasn't sure how I felt about a society of people who use doorknobs to travel to different dimensions. It sounded a little strange but interesting at the same time. I decided to give the book a try and found that I liked it.
This book has action and romance with steampunk/paranormal/fantasy aspects. There are a few parts of the book that seemed a little slow to me. Overall M.J. Fletcher has crafted a novel that flows at a fairly steady pace. There were only a few instances where I found my mind start to wander.
There is some swearing but overall a fairly clean book. I would recommend for readers 15+.
About M.J. Fletcher: MJ Fletcher is the creator of the comic book series Adam Zero: The Last Man of Earth published by Ronin Studios. He's also been published in Hope: The Hero Initiative and Digital Webbing Presents. The Doorknob Society series is his fist book series and he's thrilled about it. He lives near the beach with his wife, daughter, dog, and a crotchety cat.

The Impossible Engineers (Doorknob #2)
Book description: Chloe Masters’s world changes in a heartbeat and all she did was touch a doorknob.
James Nightshade has been on Chloe’s mind since the day she met him. Arrogant and frustrating, she thought she had put him behind her when she chose Michael Slade.
When the secret she is seeking leads to questions about the death of Nightshade’s former girlfriend, she has no chose but to bring him into the investigation. A move she will come to regret.
Danger awaits them around every corner as they search for answers. In the end a choice will need to be made, but is Chloe strong enough to make it?
My thoughts: I am currently reading this book. I anxiously started reading it as soon as I finished the first. So far, this book has not disappointed me. The book starts off with a bang. A car chase scene that is very unique. There is also some love drama. I'm not sure if I prefer Slade or Nightshade at this point. Chloe has some serious soul searching ahead of her.I think that I am enjoying this book more than the first. I will post a full review later as I know more. I'm sure that it will be up within a day or two. :)
