My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Genre: Regency Romance
Book Description: Nora Ellsworth, darling of London society, has her choice of eligible suitors, but since childhood, she has been expected to marry Jonathan Browning, a gentleman whose wealth and stability will someday secure the futures of Nora and her mother and sister. The family estate will pass to an odious male cousin upon the death of Nora’s father, and when he suddenly takes ill, her need to marry well becomes vitally important.
As Nora struggles with the idea of marrying without love, she finds herself increasingly drawn to Devlin Fausett, a man with dark eyes and intriguing conversation. But Devlin’s reputation as an indebted gambler is difficult to ignore. Despite the rumors from the ton and the marriage decision before her, Nora is determined to befriend the dashing Mr. Fausett, and his charms soon make it all but impossible to remember her duty. Until she learns the truth of her fortune. There is a way to keep her family’s estate, but the price is high: Nora must wed, as soon as possible. Torn between two very different men, she must make the ultimate decision. Will she be guided by her head or her heart?
My thoughts: "A Tangled Inheritance" takes place after "An Inconvenient Romance". The main characters are new, but it has some of the characters from the first book, which is an aspect that I loved. This book is a stand alone book, it's just fun to be reacquainted with familiar characters.
Nora has a quandary. He mother has long held hopes that she would wed the son of her friend, but Nora loves to use her mind and discuss the issues of the day, something that is not applauded in polite society. Devlin challenges her, he accepts her personality for what it is, rather than what others think it should be.
Devlin has his demons to conquer to become the man that Nora needs in her life. He really is a good guy with some bad habits. Unfortunately, those habits are destructive and if not taken care of, will ruin a family and his life. Nora is a person that makes him want to be better and move his life in a positive direction.
This is a great book told from Nora and Devlin's perspectives. It helped me to get to know them better and understand their decisions. The book explored unreasonable expectations and the impact of a family. (Positive parenting vs Negative Parenting) Does Nora choose a life living up to expectations or does she choose a life of love and happiness?
This book contains kissing and non-graphic violence. I would consider it a good fit for any lover of Regency Romance.

About the Author: (Taken from Goodreads) Chalon Linton was first introduced to Jane Austen by a dear friend and now she can’t get enough of handsome men in tailcoats. Her intrigue in the genre stems from a nostalgic longing for manners, wit, and true love. Fortunately, Chalon found her dashing gentleman, married him, and now lives happily ever after in Southern California.
