The Guardian Duke~ Review

The Guardian Duke by Jamie Carie

Rating: 5 of 5 stars
Source: Netgalley

Book Description: The Guardian Dukeis award-winning novelist Jamie Carie's most exciting story yet, a uniquely arranged Regency-era romantic adventure where hero and heroine know each other through written letters but have yet to meet.

Gabriel, the Duke of St. Easton, is ordered by the King to take guardianship over Lady Alexandria Featherstone whose parents are presumed dead after failing to return from a high profile treasure hunt. But Alexandria ignores this royal reassignment, believing her parents are still alive and duly following clues that may lead to their whereabouts. Gabriel, pressured by what are actually the King's ulterior motives, pursues her across windswept England and the rolling green hills of Ireland but is always one step behind.

When they do meet, the search for earthly treasure will pale in comparison to what God has planned for both of them.

Colleen's Thoughts: The Duke of St. Easton is awarded guardianship of Lady Alexandria Featherstone when her parents are announced missing and presumed dead.  The relationship between the two begins and develops through correspondence, but even without physically meeting, it is obvious they are beginning to fall in love with each other.  The Duke is ordered by the King to bring her back to London for her safety.  However, Alexandria is determined to find her parents at any cost.  She tricks the Duke many times and misleads him in his pursuit of her.  They both war with the inner struggles of spiritual and self discovery.  A fine example of life's consistent quest to teach us who we are and what we believe.  The cliff hanger ending leaves me frustrated that I have to wait to hear the rest of the story.  I can't wait for the next book!

Jamie Carie's writing style is elegant and easy to read.  The character descriptions are vibrant, making it easy to picture them in your imagination.  The plot development is exciting, clear, and written with such finesse. I enjoyed this novel very much.  It is Christian romance, and thus very tasteful.  No content warning is necessary.
