Guest post from "The Most Important Catch" author - Jaclyn M. Hawkes ~ Blog Tour and a US G!veaway!

Today I am very excited to host a guest post by Jaclyn M. Hawkes.  She has a new novel that I just finished and that I really enjoyed.    Here's what she has to say.

The fun side of being an author and getting published
Guest post by Jaclyn M. Hawkes, author of The Outer Edge of Heaven, The Most Important Catch, and Journey of Honor  a love story

Doing this post is perfect for me right now, because if I was honest, I’d say that I’ve gotten a bit bogged down in the thick of marketing, (bleck) and needed a reminder that being an author truly is a fun profession.   Especially a romance novelist.   After all, what other field of work can you be in where you get paid to fantasize about the perfect heroic male meeting the ultimate gracious woman in a romantic setting?

Okay, so maybe everything can’t always be perfect and ultimate and best, but you get my point.  We get money for this!  Occasionally a lot of it!  And we do our best work in our warm-ups, with a nice cup of cocoa with some whipped cream on top and a lovely storm outside.  This is a good gig!

Joking aside, being an author is awesome!  I could give you a whole slew of positives, like low start up capital, no office politics, and short commute time, etc., but in all honesty, what I love best about writing is that I can make people’s lives better.

Whether it’s just a way to give Mom a time out with a clean happy read, casually teaching a success principle, subtly testifying of God and Jesus Christ, or just giving a good belly laugh, I love to be a rising tide.  That’s why I do this.

And because there’s just something so darn fantastic about holding your new book for the first time and turning in circle as you shout, “I Am A Novelist!”

Live like you believe, Jaclyn M. Hawkes

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Source: Received to review as part of a blog tour
Genre: Contemporary Romance (It's clean romance too!)

Description from Goodreads: Run or die!
She knew too much, and she’d seen too much.
And the police refused to help.
Knowing that she was to be the next scheduled death, Kelly Campbell hid under head to toe black leather and a tinted motorcycle helmet and ran for her life.
When the weather turned cold, she turned south.
She ended up in North Carolina, home to one of the most famed and eligible NFL football stars in the whole league; only she didn’t know that. She thought he was a businessman. Not being a huge fan, all she knew was that he was incredibly attractive, kind, generous, and that she was safe with him.
Or was she?
His brand of fame proved to be all but deadly, but his fame wasn’t nearly as lethal as his attraction. He kept her safe and protected. All except for her heart.

My thoughts: I had fun reading this book. Kelly is running. She was a witness to pharmaceutical shortcuts in a psychiatric hospital that lead to the death of patients. Wearing leathers and a helmet she makes her way cross country on a motorcycle. She runs out of gas in a small town in South Carolina.

Robby is visiting his newly purchased property when he comes across someone pushing a motorcycle on the side of the road. He finds compassion and brings the biker some gas. He doesn't realize that fate is tipping it's hand and he has just found the girl of his dreams.

The background behind the story is complicated. She is in hiding and he is professional football player. It's hard to remain low key when constantly in the spotlight.

I like the interactions between Kelly and Robby. The life that they are leading. She is the caretaker and making renovations on his run down home he purchased. He loves it that he can be himself when he is with her. Their relationship is relaxed and I was glad that a large portion of the book dealt with them learning to trust each other.

This book has LDS (Mormon) references but isn't overly preachy. I think anyone of any religion could appreciate the story and the love that develops.

This is clean romance.  I can recommend this book to anyone, even teens.

About Jaclyn: Jaclyn M. Hawkes grew up in Utah with 6 sisters, 4 brothers and any number of pets.  (It was never boring!)  She received a Bachelor’s degree, had a career, and traveled extensively before settling down to her life’s work of being the mother of four magnificent and sometimes challenging children.  She loves shellfish, the outdoors, the youth, and hearing her children laugh. She and her fine husband, their family, and their sometimes very large pets, now live in a mountain valley in northern Utah, where it smells like heaven and kids still move sprinkler pipe.
