Colleen's Thoughts: Judd is looking for justice and Madge works hard to support her family through the Depression. Judd pretends to be someone else in order to stay in town and watch the person who wronged his mother. He poses as "Justin" and takes a job with Madge's family as her sister's tutor. Although Madge's mother meant Justin and Louisa, Madge's sister, to fall in love, Madge and Judd fall for each other, after Madge figures out Justin's true identity. Like so many romances - and true to life, Madge and Judd face the trials of family acceptance, difficult economy (it's set during the Great Depression), and religion before they can find a way to be together.
This is a very clean romance novel. The commentary about the Depression was thought provoking. The story was not so engaging that I could not put it down, but it was an enjoyable and uplifting read none the less.
