Review~ Kiera's Quest: Awakenings by Kristy Brown

Kiera's Quest: AwakeningsKiera's Quest: Awakenings by Kristy Brown
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Source: Received electronic copy for review
Genre: Fantasy YA

Book Description:  Meet Kiera, a pretty, intelligent, and talented girl, brought up by her uncle, and abandoned
by her parents. Life is as normal as she believes it to be, apart from the deep ache inside her,
telling her she’s different. For years, Kiera had dreams where she ventures into a different
reality. She’s not alone; a presence is always there, keeping her safe, yet she feels vulnerable,
and hunted.
Zakk, Prince of Zantar, is under the Witch Queen’s spell as she tries to take over his world.
He crosses paths with Kiera, and their fates are entwined.
As their journey unravels, she learns that she is not the only one affected by this prince. Who
is on her side? Will she find out why she has been chosen? How can someone so young, defeat
such evil? Will she find the strength to save the ones closest to her? Will this be Kiera’s only
Quest?

My thoughts:  Kiera's Quest: Awakenings is a short and quick read.

Kiera is living with her uncle and doesn't know much about her past or parents. She is content because she has her uncle and her friends.

Strange things begin to happen to her. She hears a voice while working in her Uncle's shop. It is coming from a doll. She finds out that she has a destiny that will help her save another world.

Zakk is under a spell. He is a prince and is being held captive by a wicked Queen. If he is not saved by his 16th birthday, he will be lost and the evil Queen will rule the world. She is on a mission to destroy everything and rule the Universe.

Kiera and Zakk work as a team to thwart her plans.  There are some other key characters who make it happen.

The book was written quickly. There isn't much time for plot or character development. The story is entertaining, I would like to have seen a little longer version of the story with better development.
