Adventure Books

I am attempting to compile a list of great adventure series.  It will continue to grow with time.

Ranger's Apprentice series: by John Flanagan
Will is an orphan who is apprenticed to the ranger, Halt. They are set in more of a medieval time period. These books follow his learning progress and the many adventures, scrapes and dangerous situations he finds himself in.  I highly recommend these books.  They are young adult and are appropriate for anyone who loves a good adventure. The Ruins of Golan, The Burning Bridge, The Icebound Land, The Battle for Skandia, The Sorcerer of the North, The Siege of Macindaw, Erak's Ransom, The Kings of Clonmel, and Halt's Peril

Percy Jackson and the Olympians series:  by Rick Riordan
There are five books in this series, it is also classified as Young Adult.  Percy is the son of Poisidon and is a demi-god.  He has powers that he learns to control and goes on quests to help save the world from the wrath of the God's.  Another series that I highly recommend. The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titians Curse, The Battle of the Labryrinth and The Last Olympian

The Maze Runner : by James Dashner
At this moment this is the first book with more to come.  Thomas finds himself ascending in a box to the Glade.  He has no memories, he only knows his name.  The Glade is filled with boys who all have specified jobs to keep the community running.  The doors that surround the Glade close every  night to keep out the deadly creatures who try to get in.  The inhabitants must find a way through the maze just outside the doors to find a way out.  Great book!  Another Young Adult Read.

The Hunger Games series:  by Suzanne Collins
There are three books in this amazing series.  It is one of my all time favorites.  Katniss is sent to the Hunger Games with Peeta.  They must go and fight to the death.  The winner wins the honor of never having to fight in the games again, a nice home, and a feast for the region.  This book is set in a futuristic time.  America has been divided into districts.  In the past, one district fought for freedom from the Central Government.  All districts are punished by sending two of their children to fight in the Hunger Games, to remind them that it is futile to rebel. The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay  Young Adult

The Dark is Rising Sequence: by Susan Cooper
Will is the seventh son of a seventh son.  This makes him an "old one".  The "old ones" fight the evil that is trying to take over the world.  The books are set in present day England and Wales, two are Newberry Award winners.
Listed in order:  Over Sea, Under Stone, The Dark Is Rising, Greenwitch, The Grey King, and Silver on the Tree  Young Adult
