Run or die!
She knew too much, and she’d seen too much.
And the police refused to help.
Knowing that she was to be the next scheduled death, Kelly Campbell hid under head to toe black leather and a tinted motorcycle helmet and ran for her life.
When the weather turned cold, she turned south.
She ended up in North Carolina, home to one of the most famed and eligible NFL football stars in the whole league; only she didn’t know that. She thought he was a businessman. Not being a huge fan, all she knew was that he was incredibly attractive, kind, generous, and that she was safe with him.
Or was she?
His brand of fame proved to be all but deadly, but his fame wasn’t nearly as lethal as his attraction. He kept her safe and protected. All except for her heart.
I really enjoyed this book when I read it last year. I wanted to let as many people know as I could that they could get a copy today for FREE!

Book description: In old St. Augustine, Florida, fifteen-year-old Jeff Golden’s recurring dream of being stabbed in the chest and bleeding all over his bed is driving him crazy. It’s causing him to lose sleep and giving him severe headaches. When his psychically gifted friend Carla and an ornery
Native American shaman named Lobo try to help, Jeff is inundated with terrifying paranormal
experiences.
Reaching out of Florida’s distant past, something increasingly entangles Jeff in tentacles
of danger that threaten his sanity and eventually his life. But the harder he tries to understand,
the deeper he gets. When comprehension finally dawns though, time has almost run out. Lobo
does his best to prepare Jeff for what he must face in order to survive but it may be too little and
too late.
It’s at this point that both Jeff and Carla find themselves swept headlong into an
alternative reality from which they may never return. If they don’t quickly and fully adapt to this
situation, all hope is lost. From Lobo they know how it might be possible to change what is
happening but the question is, can they? Repeatedly, Lobo has told both teens, “You create your
own reality whether in this world or in another.” If acted upon properly, that advice just might
save their lives and end suffering on an even wider scale.
BLURB
A new resident of America's oldest and most haunted city, St. Augustine, Florida,
fifteen-year-old Jeff Golden suddenly finds himself up to his eyeballs in frightening paranormal
experiences. At the end of his rope in trying to figure out what is happening to him, Jeff decides
to rely on his friend Carla Rodriguez, and Lobo, an old Native American shaman, for help.
Despite this guidance, things get even worse. Jeff's spine tingling encounters increase
in number and intensity at an alarming rate, scaring him even more. Eventually, he makes
the startling discovery that unresolved circumstances involving a bloody event directly out of
Florida's distant past threatens his sanity and possibly his life.
Finally, overwhelmed by forces he cannot understand or control, Jeff's world shifts from
frightening to downright terrifying. In desperation, and on Lobo's advice, he leaps headlong into
the unknown in order to save himself. What Jeff discovers though is that he has entered a level of
reality he is completely unprepared to handle while unwittingly dragging Carla with him.
Like all the books in THE ST. AUGUSTINE TRILOGY, the premise for Sliding Beneath
the Surface is simply this: You create your own reality.

“So tell me about this dream,“ Lobo said to me in his rumbling voice as he sat back down in hischair.
“Dream?“ Neither Carla nor I had mentioned my dream yet. If anybody else had brought me
there besides Carla, I would have sworn that person had already talked to Lobo about my
problem.
“Am I not speaking clearly enough for you?“ The man replied with this sour look on his face.
“Yes, your dream.“
“Uh … OK. My dream. Well, for the past three nights I‘ve been waking up with a horrible pain
in my chest like something has stuck me hard while I‘m sleeping. When I sit up and look down,
my bed is glowing and there‘s something long and pointy coming up out of the mattress trying to
get me. Blood is everywhere, all over my chest, my stomach, my sheets and on the pointy thing.
It's all so real, like it‘s actually happening. Then when I jump out of bed and turn the ceiling light
on, it all goes away, but my chest still hurts. I still feel like I‘ve just been stabbed. I‘m telling
you, it scares the crap out of me.“ I hadn‘t planned on saying that last part. It just popped out.
Lobo grunted and looked all around me in his weird way, his unblinking gaze all fiery.
Everybody blinks, right? Not him. I‘m telling you, it felt really odd to be talking to somebody
who keeps his eyes constantly open. Shifting his attention away from me, he put his water bottle
down on the coffee table, got up and went to the display case I had touched earlier, the one with
all the weapons. As I watched him, for the first time I noticed the circular display case over the
fireplace held a huge collection of arrowheads, spearheads and stone knives. I wondered if they
were Seminole. “Come over here,“ he said, his words a rumbling command. I could feel my
stomach twist the way it does when adults try to boss me around, but I resisted the temptation to
say something back.
When I got to the case, he asked, “That something sharp coming out of your mattress look like
any of the objects in here?“ He squinted as if he somehow wanted to see the answer within me
as much as hear it. I guess by then I was a little paranoid about the possibility of him being able
to get inside my head. After what I had experienced while standing there before, I wasn‘t sure I
wanted to look, but I did. As I searched, my headache intensified, making me wince, but even so,
my eyes stayed glued to this one item.

"The Beginning of Better Days" by Sherri Dew and Virginia H. Pearce
This book is perfect for the LDS woman for Mother's Day. Written by two of my favorite LDS Inspirational Authors.
How important are women in the restored church of Jesus Christ? We learn something about the answer to the question from a simple historic fact: In 1842, the Prophet Joseph Smith took time to attend several meetings of the Female Relief Society of Nauvoo and give personal instruction to the women there. He did this at a time of great personal turmoil, when persecutions were raging and his responsibilities were heavy. He did it at a time when society barely acknowledged women as having any kind of status at all. On six separate occasions, he taught the women personally about their privileges, their opportunities, their obligations, and the blessings the Lord had in store for them in His kingdom.
About the Authors: Sheri Dew is a native of Ulysses, Kansas, and a graduate of Brigham Young University. She has authored several books, including the biographies of two presidents of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Presidents Gordon B. Hinckley and Ezra Taft Benson. Her most recent books are God Wants a Powerful People and Saying It Like It Is. Sheri was named the president and CEO of Deseret Book Company in March 2002. She also serves as a member of both the BYU Marriott School of Management’s National Advisory Council and the President’s Leadership Council for BYU-Hawaii. In March 2003 the White House appointed her as a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls at the United Nations.
Virginia Hinckley Pearce is the author of the bestselling book A Heart Like His: Making Space for God’s Love in Your Life, and has edited and coauthored several additional books, including Glimpses into the Life and Heart of Marjorie Pay Hinckley. She has served as a counselor in the Young Women general presidency and on the general Primary board of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She and her husband, the late James R. Pearce, have six children and twenty-six grandchildren.

Blog Tour ~ "Nissa" by Bethany Lopez + a giveaway
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Source: Received to Review
Genre: Contemporary and Fantasy
Book Description: At 900 years old, Nissa is finally ready to follow her mother's path and become the best Fairy Godmother she can. She’s not thrilled when her first assignment turns out to be a teenage human girl with self-esteem issues, but she knows she has to start somewhere. Her assignment has dealt with bullies since her freshman year and they haven’t let up. If Nissa can’t help her regain her self-confidence her future is bleak.
To complicate matters Nissa experiences all the signs that she's met the being fated for her. This impossibility distracts her from her purpose. After all, fairies and humans aren't meant for each other. How can her heart believe otherwise? Can Nissa successfully complete her first assignment as a Fairy Godmother? Will the fates allow Nissa and Levi to be together? And even if they do, will Levi believe Nissa once she reveals the truth?
My thoughts: Nissa is given her first assignment as a fairy godmother. She has completed training and is excited to go and help humans. She has a loving and giving nature and is perfect for the job.
Her first assignment is a supposedly easy one. They like to easy the new godmothers in on the job. She is to help a high school senior with her self-esteem issues. Frankly, she isn't too excited, she wanted something a little more challenging.
There is more to her assignment than she counted on, Vicky has an older brother who Nissa is showing all the signs of him being her mate. Fairies have a unique way of finding their partner, they tingle and their eyes turn pink. The only problem is... he's a human. Why would the fates have a human as her perfect mate?
There are some humorous moments in this book that made me chuckle. Some bullies that I would have liked to tell off, some kissing, and a girl learning to like herself again.
This book is quick and cute.

Blog Tour ~ "Moonlit" by Jadie Jones (giveaway/guest post)
Moonlit by Jadie Jones
Source: Received to Review
Genre: YA
Book Description: To most, Tanzy Hightower looks like she has a great life for an eighteen-year-old. She spends her days on Wildwood Farm surrounded by horses and fellow horse lovers. Of course most people don't know about the mysterious shadowy beings lurking on the outskirts of her life. Tanzy isn't sure if they're real or if her eyes are just playing tricks on her until she realizes the horses see the mysterious beings too. And not only do they see then but they're afraid of them.
Moonlit is the story of Tanzy trying to unravel all the secrets of her life. Who are the mysterious beings? Was her accident really an accident? Are her new friends really friends . . . or something more nefarious? How does an ancient warrior end up in horse country?
My thoughts: I have not finished this book at the time of writing this post. I really tried to finish, I even read through my daughter's orchestra concert. :)
I can tell you that I love Jadie Jone's writing style. The book is intriguing. There are secrets. There is a strong young woman as the main character. Her life is in shambles, but she moves forward with strength. I will definitely be finishing this book asap and posting a full review.

Jadie
Jones – All about the pen name
I am
not so good at keeping promises to myself: I am not going to eat chocolate
anymore; I’m going to run every single morning; I’m going to save money, and
not splurge on that cute pair of boots… within twenty four hours I could
probably be found strolling around in said boots with something sweet in my
hand, with the thought: next time, I’ll
take it seriously, in my head. But if I make a promise to someone else, you
can bet the farm on it.
Years
ago, when Moonlit was but a scribble in a notebook, I confessed the plot idea
and my dream of one day publishing it to my dear friend, Elizabeth. She’d come over in the evenings and act as a
sounding board as I mentally hashed out characters and scenes. Both of our
husbands worked late, and she didn’t like to be alone, particularly as she
mourned the recent, sudden death of her mother. One night, Elizabeth was having
a really hard time accepting the finality of it, and was trying to figure out
how she could honor her mother, make some part of her stay alive even though
she’s gone. So I said: “I will publish this book. And when I do, I’ll use part
of her name.” Elizabeth loved the idea. It felt like the right thing to do, and
it fueled the fire within me every time I toyed with the idea of giving up. I’d
made a promise, and I would do everything in my power to keep it. Judy Dawn –
J.D. is where Jadie comes from. May you rest in peace Judy, and be proud of
your amazing daughter. She’s a good friend and a great mother herself.
Before
that, I also knew I would honor my grandmother some how should I ever become a
publisher author. She may not know it, but she’s a role model for me. She’s
also one of the most literary people I know. Of all the reviews Moonlit will
receive post-release, my Nana’s makes me the most nervous. And I know she won’t hold back. As a
teenager, she dreamed of becoming a journalist. But it was wartime, and she was
(and still is) a very attractive woman. My grandfather snatched her up, and they’ll
be married seventy-one years this November. She had four children and a house
to run while my grandfather served overseas. Dreams have a way of turning into
something like a memory, faraway and past-tense. I’ve asked her if she regrets
any of it. She looks at me like I’ve said something shocking and says: ”well,
no, honey. I’m happy right where I am.” And she is. She may have an untraveled
road, but she loves the path she took. Her name, Shirley Jones, is where Jones
comes from. I know that the soul-level need to read and write comes from her,
and it’s an honor to use her last name.
I
didn’t fully realize the effect the pen name had on me until I had my first
book signing for Moonlit. I opened the cover, and, as I’d practiced many, many times, signed “Jadie Jones” inside
my book. But this time was different – this time was real. Someone would value
this signature, would keep it safe and preserved – and alive. The meaning of it
hit me like a freight train: life is
short, don’t you ever give up.
Each
time I sign Jadie Jones, I think about Judy and Nana. About their lives, their
goals. They make me work harder, push further. They remind me to first be a
present, positive force in my daughter’s life, and, when she is cared for, to
do them proud with every word I put to paper. Most of all, they challenge me to
be grateful instead of tired. When “Jadie Jones” started, I thought it was
simply to honor two incredible women, but honoring those names has changed me
for the better – as a writer, a mother, and a human being.

About Jadie:
Jadie Jones has been dreaming about being an author since she wrote her first book in the seventh grade—in a black and white composition tablet, of course. But life happens . . . jobs, husband, baby. Jadie has that magical time known as naptime to thank for Moonlit. Because, when all was quiet in the house (with the exception of the washer humming in the background) Jadie could hear Tanzy, who she thought she had long ago relegated to past dreams, calling to her. And one day Jadie pulled out a pen and answered. The result was Moonlit. When she isn’t writing, Jadie likes to ride horses and explore the world with her beautiful toddler.

A heaviness settles over the table and Andella is no longer giggling. "Why did you do it, Piper Willow?"
"Andella!" her father hisses. He seems embarrassed for her, but she holds my stare across the wide table. I see nothing sinister, just simple curiosity in her eyes.
I reach for my blue-tinted glass and sip at the water. Gulping down air, I try on my best smile and elbow Rush slightly when I feel his gentle prodding at the locked gates my mind.
"I can't answer that. I mean…" I pause, allowing myself to reflect, "I guess I do know why. But I don't know why I thought killing myself was the only option." With a shrug, I sip more water.
Andella reclines slightly in her chair and nods. "Unlike my brother," she shoots Rush a warm smile, "I have not traveled to your world, but I have seen into it. There is much sadness there. Such a loss of potential. I think you are different though. I think on some level, you must have known there was something else beyond your life. Did you not?"
I twirl the fabric napkin on my lap while considering the question carefully. "I think I just wanted that life to be over." I feel the tears building up in my eyes as my voice drops to just above a whisper, "Some people call it Heaven, a better place after life. I didn't care about Heaven or Hell, I just wanted out."
A large hand reaches toward me and I look up through my blurred vision to find Andulen's hand atop mine. Rush is also touching me, and though she's clear across the table, I feel Andella's calming presence as well.
"Child. You cannot fit your life into a square coffer. It will find a way to spill out over the sides and explore that which surrounds it. Even once that coffer is lidded, your life doesn't cease to exist - you carry on. That is what you have done, Piper Willow. That is why you sit here with us this evening, eating and drinking and breathing. Your life - it will always struggle to stay outside that coffer. Do you understand this?"
I nod at Andulen and smile as he squeezes my hand before releasing it. My voice wouldn't work even if I had words appropriate to use, so I sip from my tinted glass again.
"Now. I have serious matters to discuss about this Earth of yours. The first thing, a question I have had on my mind since my Son here breached the subject to me." He pauses with his face set into a hard expression and I gulp. "Can you explain to me what Rugby is?"
