An Elegant Facade by Kristi Ann Hunter

An Elegant Façade (Hawthorne House, #2)An Elegant Façade by Kristi Ann Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Source: To Review via Netgalley
Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Book Description: Lady Georgina Hawthorne has worked tirelessly to seal her place as the Incomparable for her debut season. At her first London ball, she hopes to snag the attention of an earl.
With money and business connections, but without impeccable bloodlines, Colin McCrae is invited everywhere but accepted nowhere. When he first encounters the fashionable Lady Georgina, he's irritated by his attraction to a woman who concerns herself only with status and appearance.
What Colin doesn't know is that Georgina's desperate social aspirations are driven by the shameful secret she harbors. Association with Colin McCrae is not part of Georgina's plan, but as their paths continue to cross, they both must decide if the realization of their dreams is worth the sacrifices they must make.

My thoughts: The first thing that drew me to this book. Is the cover, it is elegant, just as the title suggests. O loved the simplicity and that it's pretty.

The characters in the book are not as simple as the cover design. Lady Georgina is a complex character. She has motives behind her apparent socialite status. She comes across as a woman who is only looking for a title, she has carefully crafted that persona. She has parts that need to remain hidden, she protects herself from the censure of the ton.

Colin McRae makes his business from watching others. He sees parts of Georgina that she hides from those around her. Besides her beauty, this appeals to him as he tries to figure out who she really is. She is a puzzle that he is trying to piece together.

There are two stories happening at the same time. The main one is this book is Georgina, but her sister has a story going on as well. The majority of that story can be found in "A Noble Masquerade". I have not read the book yet! I am very interested in it now that I have had a small taste of it through this book.

One message that I loved in the book was that you are not a good or bad person because of your flaws. Georgina has a flaw that she considers to be pulling down her self-worth. Her mission is to make people believe that she is perfect, thus hiding her problem. She finds who she is and her importance as a person from her interactions with Colin. He is swoon-worthy!

I am very excited to read more books about the Hawthornes! This book is a clean romance with a little bit of Christian themes.
