Isabelle, now a slave in Neverak, finds herself surrounded by enemies, uncertain about the fate of her friends, and desperate to escape. The Emperor moves forward with his plans of conquest, spurred on by the Seer's dark prophecy, but he has not forgotten those who defied him.
Return to the world of Atolas, where a blade can extend life or end it, where friendships can topple kingdoms, and where the Path of Light and Shadow is feared by all but a few.
My thoughts: Secrets of Neverak is a book that takes the reader on an adventure.
There are many aspects to the story which give it depth and dimension. One of the main goals in the book is to rescue Isabelle, who was taken captive at the end of the last book. The characters go through personal discovery and trials during the course of the book.
This is the second book. I do have a copy of the first book, but did not get a chance to read it before this review was due. Because of the depth of the story and relationship of the characters, I don't feel like I can give this book review justice until I read the first. I would highly suggest reading the first book "A Tale of Light and Shadow" before this one.
Jacob Gowans is the author of a series of books that is one of my daughter's favorites, "Psion". When I mentioned that this book was written by the same author, she indicated that for her it is a must read because he is an excellent author. He is an author whose works I need to become more familiar with.
