Book Description: Twenty-four year-old, Abby Benson has dreams of owning her own wedding cake shop. An inheritance from her aunt gives her the ability to make those dreams come true. She hires Dane, a handsome contractor, to help her get the bakery up and running and soon they’re moving toward their own happy ending.
Unsure what to charge for her cakes, Abby has a crazy idea to let the customer decide what they think their cake is worth. This plan has its ups and downs, but the novelty of the idea makes her a local celebrity. When she is interviewed on television about the unusual idea, business booms and Abby has cake adventures she never dreamed possible. But as her fame grows, Abby is swept up in a whirlwind that threatens everything she values. With the challenges that face her, will she be able to determine what is worth the most?
My thoughts: I loved the sense of humor found in this book. Not to mention the storyline made for a very fun read.
I knew that I was going to love it when at the beginning of the book, the characters are sitting in an office waiting for the reading of their Aunt's will. The deceased aunt gave one of her nieces a swing set for her daughter. She stated that seeing that the swing set was so big, she gave her the house too. If she didn't want the house, she had to take the swing set to wherever she choose to live. For me that made it a must read. :)
The book is full of fun scenes like the one mentioned above. I also loved the main characters. Abby and Dane are down to earth and genuine people. I loved reading about them falling in love. The best part for me is that it's a clean romance book.

The best thing about decorating wedding cakes is that once you know what you’re doing, you can practically decorate in your sleep. I had spent many hours pondering life and its complexities while Swiss dotting a wedding cake. I had watched movies while forming marzipan roses, and countless hours of prayer and problem-solving had taken place while I carefully placed mosaic tile fondant pieces into a buttercream concrete.
The worst thing about decorating cakes is that once you know what you’re doing, you can practically decorate in your sleep. The day of Angela Peterson’s stained glass poinsettia cake had arrived, and for about ten straight hours, I etched the outlines of poinsettias on the cake with a toothpick. Then I outlined each tiny section of the picture with black royal icing that mimicked the leading. I carefully mixed food coloring with piping gel and painted each petal and leaf and stamen. When one layer was painted, I would set it aside and move on to the next. When the last layer was finished, the first layer was dry.
As I brought the fondant canvas to life, I had way too much time to think. For the first few hours, I had Lara and April’s cheerful banter to keep me company, but at four o’clock, they left to deliver a cake while I stayed behind and finished painting. I still had about five more hours of work. I was in the zone, so I worked late into the evening, painting, thinking, reliving every conversation, every kiss, every wonderful moment of my ten months with Dane. Missing him was a physical ache. I couldn’t bring myself to think about the fight. My trip down memory lane stopped just before his birthday.
